“Coach Mike” to speak at Alma Mater

Coach Mike Danley, of NBC’s “Biggest Loser” fame, is going to speak at Western Michigan University. “Coach Mike”, as he was known on the program, is planning to share his message of “motivation, health and wellness.” Coach Danley is a former Bronco football player and Snider Football coach. From the article on wmich.edu:

“The biggest challenge was within me,” Danley says of being on the show. “I am very competitive, but I just knew I had to change, and there had to be a makeover here that would help me in years to come. I didn’t look at it as competing against the other men and women. I knew they had their own goals and their own reasons for being there–mine were for health and longevity.”

Continued improved health and wellness, Coach Mike! Continue reading

Snider coaches continue off-season education at Ball State, Michigan

Snider football players don’t rest in the off-season. They get after it in the classroom, train in the weight room, and compete in other sports. Snider football coaches don’t rest either. So far this off-season Snider coaches have hosted a football clinic by the Ball State coaches at Snider and attended Glazier Clinics in Indianapolis and Grand Rapids. Also, the coaching staff attended the Indiana Football Coaches Association annual convention and clinic in Indianapolis as well.

Another off-season opportunity to improve their football knowledge is to attend spring practices at a university. Snider coaches attended Ball State’s practice this past Wednesday. Snider coaches had a chance to watch film, sit in on position meetings, and head out on the practice field with the program. The coaches also were able to see former Panther standout and current Cardinal running back Barrington Scott out at practice as well.

The coaches are traveling again to Michigan for spring practices next Wednesday. The coaches constantly remind the players and try to uphold the motto ourselves:

“We will get what our works deserve.”

Jason Baker, founder of Pro Football Mini-Camp, released by the Panthers

Jason Baker was released today by the Carolina Panthers. Baker founded and helped to run the Pro Football Mini-Camp each May attended by many future and current Snider football players. From the Fort Wayne News Sentinel:

“I’ve been around long enough to understand how it works,” Baker said. “When you get a nice contract and get a bump in pay and job security, at the tail end of that deal your cap number goes higher. …It’s the normal cycle in the NFL and not a lot of guys avoid it.”

Good Luck on finding a new NFL roster spot, Jason!
